The first thing to look at when choosing e-Ledger software is GİB compliance, from Turkey's Revenue Administration; this is not up for negotiation. Then come whether the software can integrate with your accounting program, produce and submit the berat, run the financial seal and signing process, offer support, and state its price transparently. The right software carries the process end to end and error free, from record to berat. In this article we gathered a checklist for 2026 and the red flags to watch.

Last year a business chose a software because it looked cheap. A few months later they called us. The software could not connect to their own accounting program, so every single month they exported, tidied and entered the records by hand, one line at a time. What they thought was cheap had turned expensive through the time they spent.
Selection is not just about price. Never.
In this article we take the criteria for choosing e-Ledger software one by one. If you want to first settle what e-Ledger is, you can look at our what is e-Ledger guide.
What You Need to Know
- The first and non negotiable criterion is GİB compliance; a ledger from a non compliant software is not valid.
- The software must integrate with your accounting program; otherwise you enter data by hand each period.
- Good software produces the berat, submits it and runs the financial seal process end to end.
- The price must be transparent; hidden items and vague storage fees are red flags.
- Support and ease of use decide the cost of time and errors over the long run.
What should you look at when choosing e-Ledger software?
Choosing e-Ledger software calls for looking at a set of criteria, not a single feature. Why? Because the software does not only produce a ledger. It takes records, turns them into the format, signs them, produces the berat and submits it to GİB. If any link in this chain is missing, the work is left half done, and you finish the missing part by hand.
So think of the choice as a chain. How many links does the software carry for you? The more it carries, the less manual work is left to you. A simple equation. Below we take these links one by one.
Criterion 1: GİB compliance
This one is not up for negotiation. e-Ledger requires the file it produces to match the XBRL GL format and rules that GİB sets. A ledger from a non compliant software is not valid. Full stop. GİB assesses the software that meets compliance, and the process rests on certain technical conditions.
When choosing, expect the software to document its GİB compliance clearly. Is this vague? Does the software avoid proving it is "compliant"? Then that is the first red flag. All other criteria carry meaning only after this one is met.
Criterion 2: Integration with your accounting program
The second criterion is whether the software can connect to your accounting program. If your records sit in a program like Logo, Zirve, Mikro or Luca, the e-Ledger software must be able to take those records. If it cannot, you enter records by hand each period. Every month. That was the trap the business at the start fell into.
Integration has two models: file transfer and a database connection. We explained how both work in our accounting software integration article. If you use Luca, our Luca with e-Ledger guide is just for you. Before choosing, always ask whether your own program is supported.
Criterion 3: Berat production and submission
The third criterion is whether the software carries the process all the way to the berat. Good software turns records into a ledger, produces the ledger's berat and submits that berat to GİB. Some software produces the ledger but leaves submission to you. That means manual work again.
Ask how submission runs. Is the berat produced automatically, are signed berats pulled by the system, or do you manage each step? The more of the process is automatic, the faster your monthly close. We explained what the berat is in our what is an e-Ledger berat article.
Criterion 4: Financial seal, signing and storage
The fourth criterion is the signing and storage side. e-Ledger files are signed with a financial seal for legal entities and with a qualified electronic certificate for real persons. The software must run this signing process without trouble. We covered that a ledger without a seal is not valid in our e-Ledger without a financial seal article.
Storage is a separate matter. e-Ledger files must be kept for a set period, and this is usually offered as a separate service, so it rarely shows up on the headline price you first see. When choosing, clear up whether storage is in the scope and, if so, on what terms it is offered. Ask early. Vague storage terms can breed a surprise cost later.
Criterion 5: Transparent price and support
The fifth criterion is price transparency. Good software publishes its price openly. It does not hide which item covers what. The business at the start fell for a cheap label, but the unseen cost was the time of manual entry. So when you weigh the price, look at the total cost of ownership: license, storage, support and the time you will spend. We gathered how to weigh the e-Ledger cost in our e-Ledger cost article.
Support matters as much as price. When a problem comes up in the middle of a monthly close, a team you can reach on the same day, one that already knows your setup and your accounting program, cuts the stress by a lot. Ask two things before choosing. Which channels? What response time?
The selection checklist
We gathered the criteria above into a single checklist. When you assess a software, you can ask each of these items.
| Criterion | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| GİB compliance | Does the software document its GİB compliance? |
| Integration | Does it support my accounting program? |
| Berat submission | Is the berat produced and submitted to GİB automatically? |
| Signing and seal | Is the financial seal and signing process run? |
| Storage | Is storage in the scope, and on what terms? |
| Price and support | Is the price transparent, is support reachable? |

Common selection mistakes
Let us place the mistakes we see most in the field next to the right approach. This table helps you spot the red flags early.

The most common mistake is looking only at the label price. The second is leaving integration for later, and this one hurts, because if the software cannot connect to your program, manual work is left on your desk each and every period. The third is deciding without asking about GİB compliance. Settle these three before choosing. Do that, and you will not live what the business at the start lived.
At e-Defter PRO we were designed to meet these criteria: GİB compliant production, integration with common accounting programs, berat production and submission, the signing process and a transparent price. You can find the detail on our features page and our pricing page.
In Short
Choosing e-Ledger software is a chain: GİB compliance, integration, berat submission, signing, storage, price and support. The more of this chain the software carries, the less manual work is left to you. Look at the whole, not the label.
